Peek A Boo {mommy sees you}

Where's the Baby, she says in her mommy-voice.

Where is he, she says again...

There he is!

Then repeat that 762 times
and you will have a glimpse into this Momma's morning routine.

Oh yeah, and then I spent the rest of the morning tending to this kid-mess:

While he did this:

While wearing this:

Because we don't get dressed until noon around these parts.

And that's how we roll.
You?

Once Upon a Time I Was Crazy

I'm writing over here today.
I wrote a story about those days when I was crazy.

When I think about it,
its actually amazing I still have friends after that phase I went through.
Read it, you'll see.

{pst: it would make my day if you left a comment on their site about my article}

The Pioneer Woman's Books (Ree Drummond)

The Pioneer Woman's Books
{I'm gonna get my read on}

When I went to my first blog conference,
I was given some fabulous insight.
One of the speakers said,
If you really want to take your blog to the next level,
you will have to make sacrifices--don't kid yourself.
I remember thinking,
Neh, I can do it all.

Ha.
I was wrong.

Each and every day,
this blog
and the relationships I have made with many of you
have become an important part of my life,
an important part of my identity.

And I would be lying if I didn't admit that I have had to make sacrifices.
Some of those sacrifices have been good for me:
I watch MUCH less TV.
And I do far less random Internet browsing.
I shop less.

And then some of those sacrifices, I'm a bit sad about:
I NEVER read books anymore.
I canceled my gym membership.
I only get 5 hours of sleep a night.

And that's just the way it is.
And for the most part, I'm okay with that.
I hope one day, I will find the perfect balance...
Isn't that what we're all looking for?

But, the other day,
I was listening to a bunch of my girlfriends gush about
their latest book obsession...
and I was jealous.

I found myself longing for those nights
when I would stay up until 3 in the morning
because I just couldn't wait to see what would happen on the next page.

And in that moment, I made a decision.
I am going to read a book.
A real book,
with real pages
made out of actual paper.

But I don't want to sacrifice
in order to make time to read that book
{because I'm a brat like that}.

Solution:
Choose a book that is also a part of the blogging world.
One that many of you have also read,
or may be interested in reading with me.

So naturally, I chose The Pioneer Woman's book:
Black Heels to Tractor Wheels.
The one about her love story to the Marlboro Man.
You know, the guy with the cowboy tush:

And I love me a good ol' love story.
Especially when its true.
So I ordered the book.
It will be here in two days.
And then, you mark my words:
I will read my first book in over a year.

Yee Haw!

The Shine Project {be inspired}

Every now and then
someone comes into your life
who makes you want to be a better version of yourself.

And sometimes that person is a stranger,
someone you have never met in person,
but have observed and admired from afar.

And then sometimes you get the nerve to shoot her an email
to tell her just how special you think she is,
and how the work she is doing MATTERS.

For me, that person is Ashley LeMieux,
the author of Shine and creator of The Shine Project...
A project dedicated to finding the light within ourselves,
and then spreading that light to others
through random acts of kindess.

Every week,
she gives us new challenges.
Here are some of my favorite:
Meet Your Neighbor
Write A Letter To Your Teacher
Quit Talking and Begin DOING
Do Something You've Never Done (I AM poster)

Now, meet Ashley.
She'll insire you.
Join her challenge.
Make a difference.
Be better.
And Shine.

Guest Blogger: Ashley LeMeuix, The Shine Project

Just so we're a little more aquainted, my name is Ashley,
and I want to inspire the WORLD.

Photobucket

Raise your hand if you've ever had a dream,
and you didn't reach it.
Don't be shy, no one can actually see you raising your hand at your computer,
unless you're in your work cubicle or something,
then this might be awkward.

Why do all of us have a goal that has been left unfulfilled?
Why do we sell ourselves short of our potential?
This is why I created The Shine Project.
To give daily motivation,
and weekly challenges,
that push us out of our comfort zone to stop making excuses
to do HARD THINGS!

Photobucket

Now, think about the last time you went out of your way,
to help someone.
The Shine Project is also a source of motivation to push us
to give light to those around us who are in need.
Think of what the world would be like,
if everyone did one thoughtful thing for someone else every day.
I want The Shine Project to change the world.

Photobucket

Come join The Shine Project team.
Motivate yourself, motivate eachother,
feel good about what you can accomplish,
and lift the burdens of those around you.

I have created SHINE necklaces
so we all can have a daily reminder of our purpose.

$1 for each necklace sold goes into The Shine Project Scholarship Fund,
which will be rewarded to an inner city highschool student to help them pay for college.

This week's Shine Challenge is to give a compliment a day.
Are you up for it?

I will be revealing a big project I've been working on this month,
that will spread The Shine Project to more people.
Come join me at http://www.ashlemieux.blogspot.com/
And go ahead,
let the world see you SHINE.

Our Love Story {and a Mod Memento GIVEAWAY & Discount}

We all have a story.

It may be about the lessons we've learned,
about the adventures we've taken,
of how we fell in love,
how we found faith,
how we created life.

And this is my story--my love story, to be exact.
{the quick version}

ben + ashley

One boy...one girl...For her, it was love at first site when she spotted him across the UCSB gym...He, however, took some convincing...he shared his testimony, she gave her heart...and after a year of dating long distance, he packed his bags to start a life with her in California...that's when she knew  he loved her back...he proposed in the rain on January 1, 2006 and on July 14th that same year, they were sealed for eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple...Catalina Island, New York City,  100 mile bike rides down the California coast, blockbuster marathons, cuddle fests--their adventure had begun...and then, on July 8, 2009, this boy and this girl welcomed their first baby into the world--and life got even sweeter.
                                                                               ...to be continued
