What were you wearing when?

Top: Forever 21, Sweater: Target, Belt: Old Navy, Watch: Target,
Jeans: Paige Denim @ Nordstroms, Shoes: Aerosoles

My blouse and shoes were purchased a looonnnggg time ago. In fact, a lot of items I still wear regularly were purchased months, if not years ago--as in I have had them since high school or early college.

Which got me thinking about something funny.
Is it just me, or can you remember exactly where and when every single item of your clothing was purchased?  And, is it weird that I remember exactly the outfit I was wearing on all the special moments of my life?  Like the goofy light wash denim Miss Sixty bell bottoms, Abercrombie shirt, Gap jean jacket and white platform Sketcher sneakers that I wore on my first date with the hubs.

Oh how I long for yellow shoes but I just can't pull off that color with my skin tone. But man they are cute.
And I think my mind is going because I have no recollection of what I was wearing on any dates with husband. Uh oh!

Ha ha! YES I can - and it's frutrating that I can remember almost every detail of an outfit for the past, like 10 years, but can't remember useful stuff like historical dates and facts!! argh! ;)

I think it's just a girl thing. Kinda like how guys can tell you the middle name of the guy on 3rd base during the top of the 8th when some guy hit a homerun. ;)

Clothing is such a BIG part of my memories. I even remember what other people wore. I know that I was wearing my friend Heather's blue sparkly spaghetti strap (tie straps though) tank, with whatever jeans, and my blue windbreaker at the coffee shop the night that I fell in love with my husband. So many of my old great memories are like that, in borrowed clothes. I also have items from junior high, high school, and college still. I love the idea of longevity.

SO much on my mind at this exact moment... that I can't process your question, ha! BUT had to comment on how beautiful you look, as always ;) Hugs to you!

Yes - I think clothing and jewelry are huge part of my memories it is the reason my closet has clothes that I don't wear anymore - but just can't seem to get rid of.
Love you belt!! Too cute

I remember the exact outfit I was wearing when I got my first kiss. Pink downeast shirt, red aeropostale jacket, american eagle jeans, and old navy flip flops.

Sometimes, when I give my friends/sister hand-me-down clothes I say "P.s. I was totally wearing that shirt when I kissed so-and-so" or "Just so you know, that's the jacket I was wearing the first time I cuddled with so-and-so". It drives them crazy.

haha. I still have the crushed velvet shirt with a sparkly decal of a Chinese letter on it that I wore the day my now-hubs told me he loved me for the first time. (don't judge too harshly, we were 15) I'm not quite sure what I was thinking buying that shirt, but now I just can't part with it!

love the outfit! The shirt and shoes...love them!! I have a horrible memory but, sometimes I will have a weird flashback and my outfits will come back to me;0.

My husband and I met in the dressing room of the Gap (both happened to be shopping at the same time), and I refuse to get rid of any of the items I purchased that day :) I remember our first date clothes, both me and him; what I wore going to the hospital to have Izzy, etc. I just can't seem to get rid of any item of clothing that I had a memory like that attached too :)

I can remember outfits from dating the hubs and other outfits. My problem is that I can't believe how much time has passed since getting that outfit.
Love that shirt under the cardigan, and the belt. I can't seem to pull off the belted look.
Have a great day.

my boyfriend gets so weirded out when i'm like, oh yeah, that was the night i was wearing this, this and this, right? case in point, i remember the night that things changed for both of us, when we went from "oh, we're just friends" to "maybe something more could happen?". it was a light wash pair of flare jeans from charlotte russe, a long sleeve blue t-shirt that says geneseo on the front, with a slit that i cut and a white tank top from ae underneath. and sketcher sneakers. god, why did i wear the sneakers?

Cute outfit!

First date with hubby I was wearing Aero khaki's and a purple sequined shirt from AE. I can remember bits of our conversations from that night, too. So special.

Haha! I can totally relate! Like the grey sweatshirt, abercrombie jeans and nike shoes I wore on my first date with hubby {it was on a walk, lol}! But, I would like to say it's not just women...my hubby TOTALLY remembers what I was wearing for all of our special occasions and he likes to remind me when I wear those clothes again :)

That is an amazing outfit! You look gorgeous. I can kind of remember some outfits from certain events in my life. But I have a terrible memory! Sometimes there are certain things in my life that I dont even remember! ugh
(Which is why I blog.. so I can write things down!) LOL
I too, though, still have clothes from high school! I just recently got rid of some pants from then... made me kind of sad. :( lol

I just boxed up maternity clothes to give away and there are certain items I can not give away. I have 2 boys and know they will not care about the shirt I wore to their shower etc...however, I boxed them anyway!!!

As usual, you are just so PRETTY, Ashley! I love the pink and yellow together.

:)

Well, I'm sure you want to know what I wore on the first day of MIDDLE SCHOOL...blue stretch pants, a grey shirt with blue flowers all over it, and the best part....half of my hair that I slicked back with a dampened little black comb sitting in a high pony tail right on the top of my head!

I remember my older sister (I was in 6th grade and she was in 8th grade, so we were at the same middle school) was BAWLING--begging my mom to make me wear something "cool."

That's why the next year I got a fleece vest from Old Navy.

That DEFINITELY made me cool.

Nope! I totally retain all that information (queen of retaining useless info, here!!!). Glad I am not the only.
Although I am a tad older, so I have no college or HS clothes. Now that would be a tradgedy!

Just to add to what m. said, I can remember what outfit I wore, the hubs wore, even the kids wore, for certain occasions but I cannot remember the exact numbers or letters after a certain motor (it was DT-something!) from a conversation we had just 30 seconds ago! (Yes, he likes to "discuss" with me about what to "do" with our vehicles. I don't know, hun, just make 'em go down the road smoothly, that's all I care about!)

For sure! I can remember exactly (and still own) the outfit I wore on the hubs and I's first date. I remember what he wore too. Those things are just too sentimental to give away!

Cute outfit, per usual :)

I just want to say that I just love you! I just recently stumbled upon your blog and I'm addicted. :-)

I want your outfit! Soooooo cute! I too know where every piece of my clothing came from and I do remember what I wore on key special occasions, but not everything. Funny because I remember in highschool that my now hubby's favorite outfit I would wear were these dark wash overalls - yes, overalls! - with a long sleeved purple shirt underneath. So not sexy! But, he loved it. Weird.

I totlly remember where I got all my clothes, and my kids clothes. I have a great memory for all kinds of stupid stuff, but can't remember anything important for the life of me!
Sometimes I'll get dressed, and realize everything I'm wearing is from the same store, and I'll change just cause it seems strange to me...not sure why...

It will be all about the versatility of your avg white tee and how to dress it up or dress it down, or craft it into something a little more snazzy. There will be a link party too of course! :) hope to see you there!

I'm pretty sure you and I had the same bell bottoms!

How weird that you posted this today!

As I was getting ready this morning, I put on my favorite pair of jeans, Seven for all mankind, and thought about how old they are... I got them on my 16th birthday which was over 5 years ago. They are more of a light wash now... I got them as a dark wash :)

What's funny is that my husband remembers what I was wearing more so than I do, but do remember what we were wearing on our first date. Both of us were decked out head to toe in Abercrombie and Fitch. We thought we were so cool....

My Husband gets tickled because I have clothes in my closet that I had before we got married 18 yrs ago. So what it is still in good condition and I like them. That is what counts.
That is unless one of my fashion conscious daughters or granddaughters refuse to let me wear it.

Love your blog. Found you link at Jeannette's blog.

Cute outfit!

I think its just you... I may remember where I've gotten my clothes, but definitely not what I wore on special occasions. I wish I remembered what I wore on our first date... that would be so sweet!

I'm just like you remembering clothes! It's funny because sometimes when I'm telling a story I'll be like "Remember I was wearing_____ and you were wearing____" and my friends will be like, "Allie, telling me what we were wearing won't help me remember what you're talking about!"

Yep, I totally do that... I can often remember what I was wearing, and what other people were wearing too. Maybe it's because I put a lot of thought into my clothes when I'm going to be doing or seeing someone special. :)
