The Art of Headband Wearing {and a challenge, AND a link party}

I love headbands. Everything about them.
I love that they hide a bad hair day, that they dress up a boring outfit, that they give your look a little spunk.  I have nearly a dozen of them, from all my favorite shops out in etsy and blogland.  But when it really comes down to it, I don't wear them as often as I could.  I select my outfit and then add one of my extra cute headbands for garnish...then...just as I am about to walk out the door, I feel uncomfortable and take it off.  I can't be the only one who goes through this routine, right?

So that's where my challenge comes in.
I challenge myself, and YOU, to wear a headband everyday for a week.
Even if you're just wearing sweatpants and a pony tail--throw on that headband, snap a picture and get ready to link up later next week. It will be a sort of What I Wore {on my head} link party.  And we'd love to still have you play even if you only make it one day. What do you think?

In case you need a little headband wearing inspiration,
here are a handful of pictures showing some of the different ways to sport your headbands:

{casey wiegand wearing just.lovely.things}
{Ainsleigh wearing a Kristi Hoskins design}

So I'm thinking we'll have the link party next Friday, August 5th.
And then I will feature a handful of y'all in a follow-up post.
Sound good?
Rock the headbands girlies!
Also, if you know of any good headband shops,
put a link in the comments for us.

I love how these look! But I do not understand how people get them to stay on their heads! Headbands do not stay put on my melon. It must be strangely shaped. Plus they give me a headache, no matter how I wear them!

Great idea. I am headband obsessed too and love dressing up an outfit with a little something in my hair. I buy most of mine from etsy or from Diva here in Australia. But I recently discovered this lovely ladies blog and I've got two of her gorgeous creations - http://4littlebabushkas.blogspot.com/

I do the same thing!! I have drawers full of headbands that I love, but I'm too shy for some reason to wear them in public. I'll make it to my car, then at a red light I'll end up taking it off. So sad! But you're on, challenge accepted :)

Love this idea, Ashley! For years I swore I wasn't a headband wearer, but I'm a bona-fide headband freak now.

My fave place to get gorgeous headbands is ohsweetjoy.bigcartel.com. Kim makes beautiful pieces and even has some new OOAK boutique style headbands out now! :)

Really looking forward to it. I think after taking the picture and fixing my hair I might have to tell him we are going on a date!

I second what Karri said! I'd love to be able to wear headbands like you ladies, but they seriously don't stay on my head. I can just feel them sliding off slowly and in half an hour it's all out of place and looks funny. It drives me nuts!

I posted earlier but forgot to add... to everyone who says they feel "too old" to wear the headband, i find that wearing it lower and to the side above my hear helps and wearing a headband that looks polished and a little vintage helps too. i struggled with the same thing... i didn't want to look like I was "trying too hard" when I wore one. So I started making my own that didn't feel funny to wear LOL
Check them out :)

I will have to join this headband party and take a photo because it's slightly different from these pics and helps it stay on your noggin. :)

I LOVE the headband trend and I wish that I could wear them, but I feel like they're too much accessory on my head since I wear glasses. That's the same reason why I felt like I needed to stop wearing earrings, too. I don't want to be the dumb girl who has too much stuff around her face - like the girls who wear too much makeup. You know what I mean?
