Dear Baby W, your bed head makes me smile

Dear Baby W,

You are a BIG BOY now,
sleeping in a BIG BOY bed
with a Momma who sneaks a peak
of the only peaceful moments
you'll give me all day.

And when I watch you through the tiny crack of your door,
I imagine the boy you will become.

I imagine you bringing home your handmade Mother's Day cards
and Macaroni necklaces.
I imagine you learning to ride a bike,
and swinging a golf club like Tiger Woods.
I imagine Back To School nights
and baseball tournaments.
I imagine you coming home from school
with your first broken heart.
I imagine Homecoming dances
and college visits.
I imagine the ache in my heart
as I read the letters you write home from your mission.

And while I know things may not turn out
just as I imagine,
I do know that I want the life for you
that you imagine.

And that would make me the happiest
Momma in the world.

Just like the happiness I feel now,
when I can hear you call Momma
through the crack in the door,
and I race your Daddy to be the first to
scoop you up from your nap,
so that I can kiss those smushy cheeks
and giggle at your bed head.

You make me smile.

-Momma

{yes, that is jelly on your forhead from lunch}

Love the jelly on the forehead. Monster usually has something on his face all day too. It's just so difficult to get those cute little boys to sit still long enough to wash their faces.

It made me "happy sad" to read this post....I feel the same way about my little ones...I try to remember that on hard days, when all is chaos here at home, no one is listening, everyone is fighting over toys and whose turn it is to open the DVD player...Ahhhh....Motherhood is great! And you are an inspiration!

xoxo,
Jessica

Ahh he looks so cute and cuddly. he is precious.
My mom has been crying the past five years every time she eve thinks about my brother going on a mission, cause she doesn't want him to be gone for two years. And she never cries. I know I am going to be an even bigger baby over it.

Adorable. I have 2 boys, one 8 and one that will be 2 in April. Having two so far apart in age, made me realize how fast they grow up. I try to find some joy each day, even with the temper tantrums, dirty diapers, and leak proof sippy cups that get red juice all over my new sofa rrr. It will all go by too fast.

What a sweet letter to your little baby boy. It made me tear up just thinking of my own little man. And that bed head is too cute...he must be a mover when he sleeps!

I still giggle at mine sleeping on the couch (he broke his shoulder, so he can't get up to his loft bed), love his bed head, and adore the snuggles when he wakes up- and he's 19. Thank you for the extreme Baby W fix, and that shot of him with Daddy and their almost matching hair is priceless.

So cute. This reminds me of the book "Love you Forever, Like you for Always". I cry every time thinking of the love I have for my little boy. If you don't already have it, I'd recommend getting it - SAME sentiments as what you just wrote.

oh my gosh...I want to eat him up...he is so cute. When did you get the big boy bed? Love it! Is he sleeping well in it? I hope! My munchkin naps with a messy face too. Sometimes it is not worth the battle of wiping his face. Plus today I layed him down with a dirty face and when he woke up it was clean...miracle! ;)

I completely understand racing your husband to get the baby when he wakes from a nap! We do the same thing. I love after nap hair too!!! Their sleepy little faces:) They even have a sleepy smell! And yes, oh yes I understand wanting them to have the best life.

I do the same thing with my kids. I love to just stare at them when they are sleeping and imagine what they will be like when they are older. They grow so fast you have to cherish every moment you get with them.

I stumbled across your blog recently and fell in love with your witty style. I just wanted to say that I appreciate the way you are writing letters to your son for when he is older. My mother passed away suddenly when I was five and she had unknowingly written me a letter explaining her love and wishes for me for the future. It's an item that I treasure more than anything in the world. I hope to one day be a wonderful mother like yourself and make my mama in the sky proud.
