Cry it Out Method

I tried it...
After the longest 45 minutes of my life, it worked...
And when I went to check on Baby W,
this is what I found.

*And his cuteness overwhelmed my momma-heart*

You rock girl! So proud of you and I know it will pay off. It sucks so much when you go through it, but the end will justify the means!

That is the hardest thing to do isn't it? I have had to do it with all of my children at some point. and it takes several times before I actually stick it out and not give in. I am still doing it now. Wait until you are going through the temper tantrum stage and have to use this same method. It breaks my heart when I hear my little 3 year old call out "mommy" when I put her in her room to calm after having a major meltdown.

This was soooo hard for me too! But now when I resort to this, it's almost like he's relieved that I put him down and falls right asleep! I just really love rocking him to sleep though:-)

I guess he eventually cried himself to sleep :) It is hard..I always gave in and went in there. But you got a cute pic out of it!

Wow I am impressed. We just did that over Memorial weekend with our 16 month old. He had been sleeping with us!!! And I wanted him in the crib. It only took 15 minutes and when I went in there he fell asleep sitting up! It breaks your heart, but I have found he sleeps better, longer and is in a better mood!!!!!!!! I still bring him to bed with us if he wakes up in the middle of the night and at some point I will stop that as well, BUT for now it is amazing how empowered you feel when it actually works!

Every mom has to do what's right for her. If this method works for you, congrats on your success. We never used the cry it out method, but it's such a personal decision and every baby is so different. Hopefully next time it won't be for 45 minutes :) That picture is just the cutest thing ever!

A sleeping baby is a beautiful thing! Hang in there, it is rough at first but it is SO worth it!

Hilarious and adorable!

I'm expecting anytime and your situation is definitely something I'm NOT looking forward to! Hope it helps you in the future! Good luck!

My hubs made me do the CIO thing when our oldest was about 4 months old. She was just waking up at night b/c she wanted a paci or to play around...not hungry. He made me stay in bed all night (it was SO hard!!) and she sure yelled for awhile, but after that one night we didn't have any problems. 4 years later, she sleeps like a pro and does great at Quiet Time too b/c she knows I mean business, her room is for resting, and she doesn't come out unless she needs to use the bathroom. We did the same with our second daughter, and have also been successful.

I know methods don't work for every family, but it sure has been a sanity saver for me. I have friends who still go in and lay down with their 3 year olds to get them to nap or sleep and I am so thankful my hubs made me teach the kids to soothe themselves back to sleep instead of using me as a sleep-aid. ;)

Ooooooooooh I feel your pain, and heartache, and relief, and success! We had to do this with our little guy too. And now as the temper tantrum stage has set in (and I thought my little guy would be the exception ::sigh::)we've had to resort to this again also. It takes every ounce of me NOT to go to him when he is crying and calling for me. But despite, our exhaustion (physical and emotional) I know I'm giving it a go because it's what's best for us (and him!) at this time. Good luck, keep it up, it will get easier!

Hey Ashley! I love the blocks! Little Chick is getting too big for those though! She would have loved them when she was smaller. I can't believe how fast she is growing. Anyway, you have some great stuff today as always! Love your blog! Have a great night!

Aw...so sweet. Poor little guy. Aiden is right there with him though. I can't believe it has taken me this long but I just did it with A. You'd think I learned after it worked with Kelsey, but it breaks my heart! You can do it though! I'm getting a better nights sleep and I hope you will too...

As a momma who's going through the whole sleep training experience, this picture just made me laugh and cry a bit. We've all been there :)
