Scrunch Fabric Flower Pom Pom Headband TUTORIAL

Scrunch Fabric Flower Pom Pom Headband Tutorial
{NOsew step-by-step instructions}
{{featured on Headband Week}}

Ready to learn how to make your very own Flower Pom headband?!

Here's what you'll need:
About 20-30 circles cut out of the fabric of your choice {about 1.5 inch circles}
Elastic Headband {purchased at Target}
Hot glue and glue gun
Scissors
Felt

Let's get started!

Cut out one felt circle in the size you want your pom pom to be.
Take one of your fabric circles and scrunch from the middle.

Add glue to the end of the scrunched portion.

Place glue-side down on the center of the felt circle.

Continue to add the scrunched fabric circles around the center one.

...and add some more.

and some more...

and more...

Until voila! You have a full and fluffy pom pom!

Now flip over your pom and grab your elastic headband.

And glue your headband to the center of the pom.

Then apply the second felt circle on top of the headband to cover the band.

And now you have a fun pom headband!

Thanks for sharing this great tutorial! I just made one with my six year old daughter. Ours turned out more tightly packed (and I prefer yours!!) might have to give it another go. Will put it on the blog next week.

So cute, so easy, and so perfect! I will def be having a go at this, I think they could make perfect bouts for my ring bearers, and headbands for my flower girls! Can I ask what fabric you used in the tutorial, I'm guessing cotton? And also, if you did it with other fabrics, whether the results were any different?
Thanks for posting it, last thing I want to see is a sewing machine!
Rachel...
Oh by the way, small thing, but I found your site while browsing on my iphone, and the word verification pic doesn't load on it at all. I switched on the laptop so I could comment, but I thought you should know, just in case!

I'm going to be doing this tomorrow! Every headband post I've seen so far requires sewing and that is something I sadly am no good at! (I'll leave that to the pros) I need some new headbands and this is just the inspiration I needed! Thank you :)

do you glue the scrunched pieces of fabric all in the center at a certain point? or does it matter where you put the pieces?

At March 27, 2011 at 9:46 PM , Blogger Ashley @ Little Miss Momma said...

start glueing from the center and then work your way out. hope this helps!
