Big Ol Teefers

{Getta look at those mondo teefers}

My Momma {Baby W's Grandmomma} is spending a few days with us this week and when she arrived today I found myself justifying all of Baby W's actions to her:

"He's crying right now because he has a big ole molar coming in {not because I turned off Sesame Street}"

"Oh, don't worry he's refusing to eat even one bite of his lunch because he's teething {not because he's stubborn and wants a cookie instead of pasta}"

"He wakes up a million times a night still because he's cutting teeth {not because I failed at the cry-it-out method }"

"Yeah, he's chewing on the side of the coffee table because it massages his gums {not because he's weird and likes the taste of wood}".

"Sorry your grandson is throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of the isle at Party City--his teeth tend to hurt around this time of day {it's not because he's mad that I tried to take off his Super Man costume so we could pay for it}.

"Put him in the crib?! Oh no, when he's teething it's better for him if he's in our bed {it's not because we are completely defeated at getting him to sleep in his own bed}".

How much longer do you think I can go on blaming all of Baby W's bad attitude and naughty moments on teething?

Have I mentioned he's been teething since birth?

{Gotta love that toothy grin}

What a stinkin' SWEETHEART!!!! I love the toofer excuse! Works for me! Enjoy your time with your momma~I always feel like having mine around is such a help. We call her grammy with a cape...all those things I can't get done during the week-when she comes over somehow with all 4 children tagging after her, she swoops in and does EVERYTHING! LOL

His smile and dimples are just so stinking adorable I can hardly stand it!!! I LOVE using the teething excuse. It is my Go To when she's Monster Baby. I just shrug my shoulders, put my hands in the air and say, "teething, what can ya do?!" Works every time ;)

Haha, you are so funny Ashley! And your baby is an angel! Just look at that face- he would never do anything wrong- not when he looks as cute as that :)

I think you can justify the teething excuse until he's at least 10. That's what I plan on doing anyway! Ha! ;) But if your mom is like my mom, the little one can do not wrong no matter!

You can blame it on teething until all teeth are in, lol. You posted my life when Beau was his age. Cry it out, i failed. Sleep in crib, I failed. But they are still perfect. Thank you.

Sounds just like my mother in law. She has a crazy reason for every time my little guy cries. I know it comes from love but it BUGS! :)

I'm so glad it's not just me! I just find it easier to blame something, rather then get the ugly "you're a bad mom" look. I frequently find myself saying the "oh, his teeth are hurting", or "oh, it's my fault, the poor thing missed his nap time". :/

those teeth + those dimples = soooo cute!!

it's the same in our house, all Pie related issues are being blamed on teething :)

We used the teething excuse to death too! Jack was like 2 months old and we were already saying "oh I bet he's getting teeth." After the molars came in we just had to face the fact that our child is a pill for no particular reason. Although now we have a new excuse...oh it must be the terrible twos!

Use this excuse as long as possible! Hopefully you'll be luckier than I was. Both of my kids were completely done teething-including 2 year molars-by 18 months. That excuse was short lived for us!

Milk it for as long as possible! Kids are still teething at, like, 12. 12 year molars.

Also, I may have used the cranky teething excuse for myself when my wisdom teeth came in. So you'll have another run at it when he's in his late teens.

PS. You're hilarious

Well in my opinion, the boys HAVE been teething since birth, and teething is definately contagious between them. I think teething is a great excuse for the terrible teens too...don't you?

What a classic!! My DS is just one and he has an amazing scream on him (mostly in the middle of the night or during a nappy change) so this post made me laugh.

What is it about our relationship with our mother that make us want try to justify most things we do? I do the same re my weight, my baby feeding, etc!!

(sorry this is an anon post, I don't have a google account or url, etc)

Birdie
